About the Development

We are proud to offer a brand new development of 6 apartments in the beautiful village of Lorica in the Sila mountains.

If you love nature - long walks, picnics, cycling, canoeing, skiing etc. then look no further, this will tick all the boxes. Summer and winter seasons, the best of both worlds. The apartments are surrounded by a colourful garden and woods where one can walk in peace. The lake for boat excursions and other water sports is lieterally a few steps away, and shops and restaurants are easily reachable on foot.

Location

Lorica is 87.6 kms drive away (60 minutes in summer 90minutes in winter) from the international airport of Lamezia Terme, with direct flights to London and other European airports. It is about 45 minutes driving from Cosenza railway station and about 40 minutes from the A3 motorway junction of Rogliano.

The National Park of the Sila encompasses large areas of the Sila Grande and Sila Piccola, with three main mountain peaks: Pettinascura in the Sila Grande, Botte Donato (the highest mountain of the Sila 1928 meters ASL) and Gariglione in the Sila Piccola. The peaks of the Sila offer excellent open views of the countryside for miles around: Pollino, Aspromonte and Etna together with the Tirreno and Ionio Seas on the two sides of the Calabrian peninsula and sometimes the Eolie Islands. At the foot of Botte Donato nestles Lorica, one of the nicest and best organized tourist resorts in the Sila, renamed in the seventies the "Pearl of the Sila". It is situated on the banks of lake Arvo in a pleasant open valley facing south and warmed in winter by the sun of the south and cooled in summer by the height of the mountain.

The lake is surrounded by a wonderful forest of Laricio Pine that in some spots creates a landscape similar to Norwegian fiords -extremely unusual for the centre of the Mediterranean Sea.

From the Cavaliere station you can reach the top of Botte Donato, from where it is possible to admire the view.

Thanks to the winter ski resort, Lorica has become a very important winter resort of southern Italy. During the winter season there are ski slopes in the Valle dell inferno, literally “Hell Valley”, that are used for the Italian Ski National Cup and some other easier slopes, there are 259 km of trails in the forest and also Cross country ski trails.

There are good sports facilities in the area - two football pitches used for summer training by professional teams, tennis courts and mini golf. Bicycles and mountain bikes are also available for hire. You can swim in the clear water of the lake or sunbathe on the lake beaches. Activities include: boating, canoeing, fishing, cycling, horse riding, trekking and orienteering either on your own, with the help of maps, or with a little help from professional guides, and of course in winter there is skiing as well. Nothing disturbs the peace of the lake as all activities are non-motorised.

Trout fishing is available in the lake or in ponds. Mushrooms and wild berries (little strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries) can be gathered in Spring and Autumn. You can then enjoy the local traditional food in the traditional restaurants.
