Calabria

Pizzo

Pizzo, situated on a high promontory overlooking the Gulf of Sant' Eufemia on the Tyrrhenian Sea, is one of the most beautiful and famous towns in Calabria.

It was built on the ruins of Napitia, a colony of an ancient tribal group, the Focesis. It has a long, illustrious history. According to local lore, Cicerone visited and St.Peter stopped on his journey to Rome.

The historical centre of Pizzo is characterized by narrow lanes and streets with many interconnecting stairways. There are numerous palozzi (mansions) once owned by rich merchants and other members of the higher classes, with interesting architectural detail. Pizzo is fast becoming an ever popular tourist resort town thanks to its mild, sunny climate and to the stunning coastline, where there are many attractions and activities for locals and travellers alike.

Building Specifications

• The skeleton of the building will be in standard re-inforced concrete, excepted the external wooden arcades.

• Coverings will be in bent tiles Portuguese type with an insulating / ventilating layer.

• Ceilings will be in tile-concrete with stiffening ribs, installed or pre-assembled, chosen by the builder.

• Curtain walls will be in bricks “Termoblocco” type (insulating expanded clay), 30 cm thick; partition walls will be in hollow bricks 8 cm thick.

• The partition walls between two adjoining apartments will be made of two walls in hollow bricks, 8 cm thick each, with an air space, or made of “Termoblocco” type bricks, 30 cm thick.

• Façades will be plastered and painted with coloured “Ducosil” type plastering or similar, to be chosen by the builder.

• Internal walls and ceilings will be plastered with “VIC” type plastering or similar, excepted the walls by the kitchenette and the walls in the bathroom which will be tiled with white ceramic tiles up to 2.00 m height.

Every Apartment will be supplied with:

• 1 telephone jack by the entrance

• Pre-installation for TV cable, with a socket in the living room

• Water supply with PVC pipes in the kitchen and in the bathrooms

• Draining pipes in polyethylene

• Electric system in polyvinyl pipes “Bergmann” type, with Bakelite boxes, 1 lighting spot and 2

• sockets in each room, 1 lighting spot in each external arcade

• 2 automatic circuit breakers, one for the lights circuit, the other one for the sockets circuit

• Internal and external floors in glazed ceramic tiles, clinker or grès, chosen by the vendor

• Internal staircases, main entrance and balconies thresholds will be made of travertine marble

• Skirting boards in glazed ceramic, matching with the floor

• External wooden frames with Roman style shutters with adjustable louver board and airspaced glass 4-9-4

• The front door will be steel-clad type

• Internal wooden doors, MDF oak type

• Sanitary fixtures will be – only in the bathrooms– white, primary brand made, chosen by the vendor and finished with heavy brass chromium-plated taps and fittings
