Situated in a beautiful, elevated position on the edge of the quiet village of Oberwangen, this attractive farmhouse in the Naturpark Südschwarzwald has a wealth of character. Within easy reach of Zürich, an hour away by car, it would make an ideal main house or spacious holiday home, and is perfect for horse, nature, or golf lovers.

Oberwangen is a small village located close to the Swiss/ German border, between the charming towns of Bonndorf and Stühlingen (just to the west of Schaffhausen).

The local area is ideal for many activities including walking, cycling, hiking, horse riding etc, and the property is located 1km away from the panoramic 18 hole golfcourse at Obere Alp (www.golf-oberealp.de). Other attractions in the Schwarzwald are also within easy reach, including Titisee, Freiburg and Feldburg (ski resort).

The house is of stone construction, and dates to 1891. It enjoys views over the village and valley beyond. It has recently been used as a Gasthaus and presently contains 9 rooms set over 4 floors.

It has 2 cellars, one of which is vaulted and contains a natural spring. Although now requiring complete renovation, it has many character features, including wood fires, a smoker (for meats, cheeses etc), wood-fired cooking range, impressive exposed wood beams, wooden floors and shutters etc.

Plans have been prepared for the renovation works, which would create 5 large bedrooms, including guest facilities, 2 ½ bathrooms, a galleried dining room, bar/ games room with balcony, study etc. Plans are available for viewing.

Alternatively the house could be removed and the ground used to build either one or more houses.

Adjoining the house is the barn, which is of half stone half wood construction, and dates to the same period. It has approx 2,500+ m² of space, and is split over 3 levels. Massive internal timbers provide an imposing setting, which may make an interesting extension to the living space of the main house.

It presently contains a variety of facilities including stabling, workshops, storage, sties, cellars etc. There are also a number of other attached outbuildings for garaging and storage, which could easily be adapted to a variety of uses. Also contains original fittings and tackle.

The surrounding land consists of gardens and paddocks. The gardens have several established fruit and nut trees, and there is a rockery to the side of the house. The property also has its own natural water supply which is collected and fed into a stone cattle trough.
