Slovakia has a moderate climate with warm summers and cold winters. The average summer temperatures in Slovakia stays around 21°C  while in the cold months like January it averages around 28°F (-2°C). The coldest month of Slovakia is January and July is the warmest.

There is snowfall in the winter months. The duration of winters in Slovakia varies in different regions. Winters in the lowlands last from mid-December to mid-February and from November to mid-march in the Poprad basin and from early November to May in the High and Low Tatras. The mountain areas of the north experience severe winters and are the coldest and wettest areas.  Areas of high altitude are often covered with snow throughout the winter season .  Night temperatures in these areas can go down to -20°C.

Average rainfall in Slovakia reaches 700 mm. The months that experience the most rainfall in Slovakia are June and July while the driest months are January and February. Bratislava and Southern Slovakia are the warmest regions. In summers the temperatures can be around +30°C and go up to 35-37°C on hot days. There are no tornadoes or hurricanes in Slovakia. A good time to visit Slovakia with relation to weather would be in the spring time which has the mildest weather.
