Qatar » Weather The waters of The Gulf on three sides surround it. It has a climate similar to that of Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates. It is very hot and rainless from May until September, with occasional showery rain during the rest of the year. Winter temperatures are mild to warm and the weather is then generally sunny and pleasant. Summers are often unpleasantly hot with some danger of heat exhaustion or heatstroke. During summer (May to September), temperatures generally average 35°C (95°F), but it's not uncommon for the mercury to rise to 50°C (122°F). The 90% humidity that comes with this time of year sags over the peninsular like a bad hangover and frequent sandstorms are an added irritation.
Conditions on the coast are made even more unpleasant by the high humidity, which more than cancels the slightly lower temperatures. The hottest average temperatures in Qatar peak at around 41 Celsius in June and July. Throughout the year, but especially in spring, Qatar is subject to sandstorms; rainstorms can also hit the country in December and January, causing road closures.
These are very unpleasant, and if there is even a crack in your house or apartment dust will enter. Generally, though, Qatar experiences clear blue skies ¢ and almost every day you can see a superb sunset.
