Portugal offers a sun soaked south coast, and enjoys a hot, dry climate practically all year round except for a few patches of cold misty weather in December. Besides its favourable weather, it offers miles of sandy white beaches, over a hundred.

Almost all the beaches provide a wide range of water sports and all use the flag system to indicate bathing conditions.

Portugal's vast land and long stretch of beaches is complemented by a rich culture. The country abounds with religious pilgrimages festivals and fairs which bring towns to a standstill. The largest by far is the showcase of riding contests and bullfights.
