Parthian dynasty then made the Persian Gulf under their control by about 250 B.C and extended their power to Oman. After that to control Persian Gulf trade route, the Parthians established garrisons in Oman.

The Sassanids in the third century A.D defeated the Parthians and took hold of the area until rise of Islam for centuries later. Omanis started practicing a unique sect of the faith, Ibadhism which remains majority sect only in Oman. Ibadhism is described by “moderate conservatism” with tenets that are a mixture of both austerity and peace.
