Visas and Residency Issues:

Immigration laws of France are very complex and confusing. French legislations including the immigration laws are continuously changing. It is a good idea to consider your legal situation before thinking about the visa and residence in France.  Visa, residence permit and work permits are required to live in France. Following information shows the France visa information you need to know before entering the country.

Citizens of the Australia, British, Canada, USA and members of European Union are free from the compulsion of visas requirements. However citizen of the above listed countries are required to get their passports before entering the France country. Visas are never distributed inside the France. Visa applications including France residential issues take some time before approval. Citizens of the European Union Member countries are only required to make available the evidence of their EU nationality.  This requirement can be fulfilled by showing valid National Identity card or National passport.

Residence permits are allotted for 3 month of time. Citizens of European Union Member countries are not needed to take residence permits. A whole lot more information about visa and residency issues can be gathered from France embassy in your respective country. The citizen of UK currently visiting France can get information about residence from UK embassy in France present in the Paris city.  Getting residence permits for citizens of EU member countries is very useful to stay for longer time. Work permits can be a separate document or can be applied with residence permits. Presence of work permit is not necessitated for the people of European Union countries for acquiring jobs in the France.

Basically there are three types of residence permits available for staying in France. One is called temporary residence permit, second is called permanent residence permit and third one is called provisional stay permit. Provisional stay permit is given to the people who are not legally liable to stay in the France. Temporary residence permit are given in the following statuses.

  • Visitors
