Tourism in Belize is increasing by over 20% annually, with Placencia being one of the main attractions. The pristine beach peninsula of Placencia is long and narrow paralleling the southern coastline for nearly 12 Miles. It is separated from the mainland by the Placencia Lagoon. From head to foot, its eastern shoreline is embraced with the country's prettiest stretch of beach. The western shore borders the vibrant lagoon and all of its wildlife.

Placencia is reachable by land, sea or air. It has its own airport, with regular flights travelling to Belize City, a hub for international destinations, taking just 25 minutes. There are plenty of beautiful islands just off the coast of Placencia. There are professional licensed tour guides within Placencia village. Placencia also offers several dive and snorkel shops along the peninsula. Inland attractions such as the Cockscomb Basin, Victoria Peak, Monkey River, Red Bank, and ancient Maya ruins are all within easy reach.

 

 

The district is dominated by Belize City and offers a host of attractions including several sanctuaries, the world class Belize Zoo, a new museum, historic government buildings, churches and the incredible Maya site at Altun Ha. The city is a great place to spend a day or two learning about Belize's history and its multi-cultural heritage while mingling with the amiable, laid back Belizeans who greet you with a smile.
