The Bahamas Relations with the International Community

The Government of the Bahamas is involved in continuing negotiations on economic collaboration and trade liberalisation connecting the United States and Canada, which includes the anticipated hemisphere-wide Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) discussions. The government is participating with 33 other countries to forge an FTAA. These negotiations are yet to reach a conclusion and agreement.

Trade and Investment with the UK

Relations between The Bahamas and the UK are by tradition good. The British High Commissioner ever since the shutdown of the resident British High Commission in 2005 has been based in Kingston, Jamaica. There is a British Honorary representative in Nassau.
