Mainly, Watford's excellent shopping facilities are immersed in town centre. Here we see an attractive new town square. Watford has two most important shopping complexes, the Harlequin Shopping Mall and connected Charter Place Shopping Centre offering a comprehensive range of known brands, together with a variety of specialist shops and boutiques.

Many charity shops are located in the origin of The High Street offering Woolworths and a number of independently run craft and gift shops. The High Street provides an additional retail and leisure environment, with the Café Quarter - its paved northern end and Parade area - offering a variety of bars, pubs and cafés.

The most noticeable feature on entering the town on its ring-road is the Harlequin shopping centre having almost 140 stores and all the big brands. In addition to Boots and John Lewis, there is Marks & Spencer, Next, Morgan and Monsoon along with the teenage-magnet shops of Topshop and Miss Selfridge.

Adjacent to the Harlequin shopping centre is the Charter Place which is occupied by Watford's historic market, which has been in existence since 1170. The Market offers a vast range of things to shop from household shopping - meat, fish, fruit and vegetables, and anything from clothes and hats to greeting cards, handbags, hardware and gift items. Around 80 traders are observed to be operating from 325 stalls in this indoor market at Watford.
