Getting to Sousse : By Plane

Sousse has no airport in the city but you can get by air to the Monastir airport. Monastir airport is only  15 km away from Sousse and can be reached via taxi or metro.
 

Getting to Sousse: By Train

Travelers to Sousse can also avail the train service. The timings of the trains are from 5am to 1am. It is a convenient way to travel around the city as the trains are modern, comfortable as well as air-conditioned. There are train lines that connect Sousse with Tunis and Monastir. The train fares from Tunis to Sousse are around 12 dinars for grand class, 10 for first class and 6 for second class. The Tunisian Railways (SNCFT) founded in 1956 is the national railway of Tunisia that travels between Tunis, Sousse, El Jem, Sfax and Gabès. There is also a branch line from Sousse to Monastir and Mahdia, and several other routes. Sousse also has a tram  sustem that is modern and very convenient for traveling.

Getting to Sousse:  By Road

The road network of Tunisia is a sophisticated one that can be compared to the standards of European countries. The motorway of Tunisia is subject to toll but the toll between any 2 points is not more than €1.

By Taxi

To get to Sousse you can hire a taxi or a private car. There are many car hiring agencies in Sousse that make hiring a car a convenient option. When hiring a taxi be sure to fix a price before hand. The taxis in Sousse are yellow with a taxi license sticker on them. There are meters in the taxis but mostly the drivers are reluctant to use them.
 

By Bus

Sousses is connected with most parts of the country by buses. The inter city buses are suitable for long distance travelling. There are shared taxis in Sousse as well. Shared taxis are large cars or mini buses used a lot by the locals. They are quite cheap as you only pay 10% of what you have to pay for a taxi ride. The drawback however is that you have to wait for them to be full before they start their journey. Shared taxis are yellow with a blue stripe.
 
The bus station is near the gates of the Medina.

By boat:

Tourists can also come to Sousse by boat. Sousse can be reached by car ferries and express boats that connect with Marseille and Palermo. They usually travel about three times a week, but it can vary according to the season. By an express boat it takes around 4-5 hours to get to Palermo and 7-8 hours if you take a ferry.
