Sweden » Getting to Stockholm

By Air

Stockholm is just two hours from London. The safe, comprehensive and punctual transportation in Stockholm makes traveling easy and enjoyable. The fastest and most convenient way of going to Stockholm is obviously by air. The airfares of all Stockholm flights can be found online. Most modern and main Stockholm airport is Arlanda offering 500 international direct flights.  It is Sweden’s major gateway, 40 kilometers from Stockholm and is Sweden’s biggest international airport with most international and domestic flights. Arlanda Arirport has excellent transport links with trains, buses, taxis and car hires available to travel to the city. Arlanda Express train from Central Station can get you to the airport in 20 minute. Taking a train from the Stockholm airport is best way to travel to and fro from the main city.
 
A short distance from the city centre is the smaller and older airport of Bromma handling domestic air traffic and only a few international flights mainly of Brussels Airlines that fly to Belgium. Skavsta airport, 100 kilometres south from Stockholm, is used by low cost airlines like Ryanair. Stockholm transportation system is quite good.

Getting to the Stockholm

By Train

Stockholm has excellent rail network, including high-speed trains both within Sweden and to European destinations. Traveling by train to Copenhagen (Denmark) takes 5 hours and the trains offers daily services while there are two trains a day to Oslo (Norway) that take 6-hours. Trains to Gothenburg take between 3 and 4 and a half hour, and train to Malmo takes 4 and a half hour.
 

By Sea

You can get in to Sweden from different countries like Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Germany, Norway, Poland, Russia and UK.

Ferries

Taking a ferry is the right choice if you want to enjoy the spectacular city views while traveling. The services are efficient that offer comfortable cabins and great food. There are daily ferries to Finland, Latvia and Estonia.

Taxis

Taxis in Stockholm are very expensive.

Bus

Cheap way of traveling to Stockholm is to go by bus. Coaches from major European cities daily travel to Stockholm.  Bus and coaches travel to the City Terminal that is main bus terminal centrally located next to Stockholm Central Station. As Stockholm is on the Eurolines route, many bus services are available to Berlin, Amsterdam, Paris, Rome and London.

The same terminal also offers domestic services to destinations all over Sweden including regular services to Gothenburg and Malmo.
