The capital of a country of over 9 million people, Belgrade is the center of a regional free trade zone with over 40 million. Serbia also has preferential access to EU markets and is uniquely positioned as having tariff-free access to Russia. Belgrades position is strategically important, located at the intersection of European highway and railway networks connecting Europe with Asia. The city is on the confluence of two navigable rivers Sava and Danube, the latter of which provides freight and transportation links to Western Europe and the Black Sea.
