In Muscat the visitors can get both the amusement from lofty mountains and splashing seas. Volcanic mountains and widely spread beaches of the Arabian seas have surrounded the city, making it hot favourite sight for the visitors. The city of Muscat also has a strong culture reflecting the typical Arabian traditions. Muscat museum, historic forts and buildings show the Muscat culture and rich history. Customs in Muscat are usually based on the values of Islamic religion. Islam is the only recognized religion in Muscat and Ibadi Muslims make 75% of the total population. Besides these, there are great number of expatriates and minor groups of Hindus and Christians. Although the recognized religion in Muscat is Islam, but city also has Shiva Temple, a Krishna Temple, and two churches in the Ruwi locality. This rich and versatile culture of the Muscat city makes its most frequent tourist’s destinations. The far-reaching architectural masterpieces of Muscat are reflected through the various historical buildings and forts in the country.
Other than these, the modern buildings also reveal the superb architectural examples. The walls and the gates surrounding the city of Muscat also attract a large number of tourists. The three gates of the city which are use to protect the city from the invaders are a sign of rich traditions of Muscat, the capital of Oman. Various exhibitions held here give the visitors the taste of the culture of Muscat and different form of arts and crafts. Similarly the music and dance of the area also shows the rich culture of the Muscat.
