Germany » Introduction of Berlin
Berlin is the capital and major city in Germany. It is a vigorous city that offers something for everyone. Ethnically Berlin offers a wealth of attractions such as world class museums, theatre, opera, music, art, and architecture. The city is also home to a stunning range of pubs, nightclubs, restaurants, shops, galleries, and a lot more. Berlin is a city of museums. Over 170 museums house history, art and knowledge, creating a distinctive museum landscape. Getting around seeing it all couldn’t be easier. Berlin’s inspiring public transportation system will carry you everywhere you need to go, whether by the U-Bahn subway, the S-Bahn elevated city train, or serviceable buses and trams.
Berlin is an energetic city of the 21st century. Often the clash between Old Berlin and New Berlin overcome visitors, so this short introductory guide aims to lay out a few must-see spots within walking distance of each other. Your trip will most likely start at the new Hautbahnhof (main train station), which sits near the German parliament building (Reichstag). A good route to get over the jet lag is to wait on the significant line to go up to the glass dome in the building, which provides a good “starter” view of the city. After the Reichstag, you can walk to the Brandenburger Tor and be impressed the statue on top of the gate. Next to the gate is the Adlon Hotel, and Queen Elizabeth II owns part of the hotel.
