Egypt » Getting to Cairo
By AirAll airlines fly into Cairo International airport (code - CAI), which is situated in the Heliopolis area of the city, 22km from the centre. The vast majority of British visitors to Egypt arrive by air. There are direct flights from London Heathrow to Egypt's international gateways at Cairo (Heliopolis), there are frequent direct services operated by British Airways and Egypt Air between London Heathrow and Cairo International Airport. By RoadEgypt can be accessed by bus from a number of neighboring countries, such as Israel (from the bus stations in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv) and Jordan. Many travellers may well want to pay extra and make the journey into the city by taxi. However, there is the option of a regular bus service into central Cairo. Traveller staying in accommodation in the Giza region (for the pyramids) should note the airport is 40km away.
