There are several sports and recreational centres in Zagreb. Recreational Sports Centre Jarun, situated on Lake Jarun to the southwest of the city, has fine shingle beaches, a world-class regatta course, a jogging lane around the lake, several restaurants, many night clubs and a discotheque. Its sports and recreation opportunities include swimming, sunbathing, waterskiing, angling and other water sports, but also beach volleyball, football, basketball, handball, table tennis, and miniature golf.

Croatians are as fond of the grain as they are of the grape and enjoy both in equal abundance. If its wine you’re after Frankovka and Dignac are the most well known, though don’t be afraid to sample the lesser-known regional wines from the islands. For those too stuck in their ways to stray from the brown stuff, you'll be pleased to know that Zagreb is home to Croatia's oldest and most famous brewery. If beer halls and wine aren’t your bag, Zagreb is rapidly becoming a regular stop-over point for many of the world’s finest DJs. Christmas Fair

Zagreb Fair organises at the end of every calendar year a special fair for the general public - the Christmas Fair - with a view to contribute to the days preceding holidays and make them be nicer and happier, wishing to create an oasis of joy, happiness, smile and entertainment in our city.

Christmas Fair is intended, first of all, for the youngest, the children waiting impatiently Christmas and New Year, and the presents they are so much looking for. It is the opportunity to choose at one place and against reasonable prices casual presents, and at least for a moment forget daily problems and spend some pleasant hours at the Christmas Fair.

International Pets Fair

The International Pets Fair is a specialised exhibition focusing on pets, animal feed, health and care. The Fair will again bring together the producers of animal feed and equipment for pets, pedigree animals breeders, experts in animal raising and owners of small animals and their pets.

Apart from producers the Fair will be showing off service activity, wholesalers, traders and suppliers in the field of kinology, felinology, aquaria, terraria, ornithology and small domestic animals.

People who keep pets, or those who would like to, should get informed about correct attitude to animals', their care, feeding and accommodation. The International Pets Fair is an opportunity of getting an insight into all aspects of keeping animals and acquiring the latest trade literature.

Zoos and parks may not be for everyone but we’re sure there’s something for even the most hard to please in this section. Historical and botanical parks, newly re-furbished football stadiums, casinos, cinemas and water sports are all just a tram ride away so take a look and then take the plunge.
