Tirana, the capital city, is an exciting place, rich in history and culture. Tirana is a part of Europe where one can catch glimpses of how different some parts of the continent were few generations back. It has that old touch and yet it’s very modern. 

Tirana is a vibrant city with a lively nightlife. It is becoming a hot tourist destination in Europe. Popular attractions of Tirana are Sheshi Skënderbej, home to the Opera and the National History Museum, the Petrela Castle which dates back to the middle ages, Mount Dajti, Et'hem Bey Mosque which is in the center of the city and was built in 1789, Grand Park. Then there is clock tower, built in 1830 in central Tirana. Tirana’s mouthwatering local dishes are very famous and it is also known as an ideal shopping destination. The city has many bars and nightclubs. Hotels offering superb services are also available. Population of Tirana is mostly Muslim and Tirana people are generally friendly with the tourists.

It is also the economic and administrative center of the country. A lot of roads and new buildings were built in recent times improving the overall infrastructure of the city. Tirana's parks and green areas were expanded and many old buildings were repainted in bright colours as part of the mayor's campaign to transform Tirana's image and to beautify it. With the increasing number of people and growth Tirana is suffering from air pollution problems. No doubt it faces alot of challenges but Tirana is a city that has reinvented itself and is emerging as a cosmopolitan city full of life and colour. Tirana is two hours from Gatwick. Tirana is connected by rail with the port city of Durres, on the Adriatic Sea. Tirana has a Mediterranean climate.
